I recently had the opportunity to join Kami Guildner on her award-winning podcast, Extraordinary Women Radio™. Kami is an incredible host—deeply intuitive, values-driven, and a true connector of women leading with purpose. As the founder of the Extraordinary Women Ignite Conference and the Extraordinary Women Connect events, she’s created a powerful platform for women entrepreneurs to raise their voices and expand their impact.

In our conversation, we explored the intersection of strategy and soul when it comes to exiting a business—something I care deeply about. My work as an exit planning advisor is about more than just preparing a company for sale. It’s about helping women step into the next chapter of their lives with clarity, confidence, and alignment.

Here are a few of the themes we touched on:

• Exiting is an emotional and financial journey. I shared why a successful exit isn’t just about what your business is worth on paper. It’s about honoring the story you’ve built, protecting your legacy, and aligning the sale with your values.
• Even profitable businesses can fall apart in the sale process. We talked about the hidden risks that can sabotage deals—and the proactive steps founders can take now to build companies that are truly buyer-ready.
• Your expertise has value beyond you. I discussed how to turn your knowledge and systems into transferable business assets, so your business doesn’t require a lengthy earn-out or heavy founder involvement post-sale.
• Define your ideal buyer early. I always encourage my clients to think about who they want taking the reins. This allows them to align the sale with their mission—and ensure their legacy lives on.
• If you want to sell later, act now. Whether it’s building recurring revenue, documenting systems, or stepping out of day-to-day operations, these steps take time—and they’re worth starting today.
• Life after exit matters just as much. One of the most important parts of my work is helping women navigate what comes next. I show up as a trusted advisor, big sister, and fiduciary advocate—offering clear, flat-fee guidance and absolute confidentiality.
